Examples of hardware

In computing and information technology, hardware is defined as the grouping of all the electrical , mechanical, electromechanical, electronic and peripheral components that make up the computer system of a computer. This concept comes from the English from the 16th century, which means “hard parts”, and is currently used to refer to components of a material nature.

Hardware is classified into 2 categories :

  • Main: series of fundamental components for the minimum functionality.
  • Complementary: series of components to carry out the most specific functions.

Multiple hardware examples are listed below .

Hardware refers to the physical parts of a computer.

More Hardware Examples

ROM memory

ROM memory is a program storage hardware that permanently preserves instructions and data and only serves as access for reading and not for writing.

Network card

The network card or network card is input and output hardware that links a computer to a computer network so that resources, for example, hard drives or printers, are shared.

Webcam

The webcam is an input hardware that is known as a small digital camera that is used to capture images or videos  and display them through the Internet, or also to other computers privately.

Compact disc

The compact disc, or also known as DVD, is a storage hardware that is defined as that digitally recorded optical element whose main function is to store any information, be it images, videos and documents.

Microprocessor

The microprocessor is known as the “brain of the computer ” and is a piece of processing hardware. It is the most complex central system of all and in which all the elements are stored in a single integrated circuit.

mouse or mouse

The mouse is the input hardware that provides the opportunity to handle the graphical environment of a computer that is usually made of plastic . It works thanks to the transformation of the movement of the hand in movement of the cursor on the screen.

Printer

The printer is a peripheral output device connected to the CPU that is capable of generating a permanent series of texts or graphics that are stored in an electronic format, transforming them into something physical.

Modem

The modem is input/output hardware that converts analog signals to digital and vice versa so that they can be transmitted over telephone lines or a cable modem.

Pen drive

The USB memory is a storage hardware that offers the opportunity to connect different peripherals to a computer in order to save data or information, be it images, videos, documents or programs.

Monitor

A computer monitor is an input/output peripheral that displays user data.

When looking at a screen, it is essential to analyze several parameters : pixel, point size, useful area, viewing angle, luminance, response time, contrast, consumption, bandwidth and vertical and horizontal refresh rate.
